The primary function of a position monitoring switch is to defect the position of a pneumatic actuator and provide feedback to the control system. This allows the system to determine whether the actuator has reached the desired position (for example a fully open or fully closed valve) and whether further action is required.
This switch is mounted on the pneumatic actuator and connected to a moving component, such as a a piston rod or valve shaft. When the actuator moves, the switch detects the final or intermediate position and sends a signal to the control system.
